2011 Report & Results
13th to 15th April, 2011
This year's exhibition was held on the first two days of the show and once again Dr. Michael Cannon was on hand to check on all the birds' health during this time. The birds were benched on the evening prior to the two day event and judging took place during the morning of the first day when the public was able to watch the adjudication of the Budgerigars, Finches and Parrots. The Lovebirds and Canaries were judged in the dome area, out of the public's eye.
Bob Moore was the Chief Steward and was on hand to supervise the smooth running of the event, with the help of the Variety Sectional Stewards. A large number of the stewards have been involved with this Annual Show since it's inception at this venue fourteen years ago. Jean Painter judged the birds and her comments were:
BUDGERIGARS : "Always at this time of year we have a problem with condition of the birds because it is the natural moulting time for Budgerigars. The Reserve Champion, a magnificent Lutino Cock was a classic example of this, because if it had been in full feather on the day he may have won. However the Grand Champion, an Albino Cock was a lovely bird with strong head features and showed well all day. It was disappointing that we did not have a display of Australian Bush Budgerigars this time so that the public could see how the exhibition Budgerigar has developed from the original bird. Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to the RAS for the opportunity to exhibit our birds."
